Welcome to The Perfect Hug!

Providing a hug when it’s needed the most

Who We Are

Our group was formed by Chevi Mcilroy following recovery from breast cancer. She was given a heart shaped pillow to make her more comfortable after surgery. Once better she decided anyone undergoing similar surgery needed one of those pillows. Since then a large group of volunteers has formed around her and meet each month to make these pillows which are delivered to hospitals across the South West and we’d like to spread them further.

What Do We Need Money For?

All our volunteers give their time for free. The money raised is used to buy stuffing and materials to make the pillows.

What Are We Doing To Make Money

We all have different skills and are able to give our time differently. For those who can’t sew, and want to help, Chevi has undertaken to walk the South West Coast Path to raise money and awareness of her campaign to bring a hug to every person coming out of chest surgery. We walk with her, getting sponsorship for ourselves (or in some cases our dogs) or donate £10 per walk.

This way we can support and encourage Chevi on her journey, helping her raise awareness and funds.

How Can You Help /Join In?

  • Donating a little money enables us to make more and send our hugs to more people, giving a much needed hug to those going through very scary times.

  • Fancy sewing? Our group meets once a month at Wadebridge Rugby Club and you’d be more than welcome to join in.

  • Got some fabric at home you think we could use? We take donations at our sewing meetings, preferably cottons and polycottons.

  • Like Walking? Join a walk and be part of supporting the cause and Chevi

How To Join A Walk

Fill in the disclaimer below - this makes it clear that if you join a walk you do so at your own risk and Chevi nor The Perfect Hug are in anyway responsible for your safety. Please ensure you are fit and healthy enough to complete the walks before taking part. They can be quite challenging and are along the Coast Path which is uneven and can be dangerous.

If you can’t manage a walk we would love you to join one of our other events or sewing meetings.

Hi I’m Kelly

I’ve known Chevi for a really long time and I wanted to help her promote The Perfect Hug.

I build websites for a living and so I created this page on the back end of my website so that people could find out more information about the project without it costing anything.

If you’d like to find out more about me and the work I do with local business please take a look at the rest of my website- here is a link to the home page.

Thank you for supporting Chevi and The Perfect Hug Team and I’m sure I’ll see you soon
